This site is dedicated to the memory of Christopher Chigbo Ekwempu.

Christopher Chigbo Ekwempu was born on March 07, 1932. He was a true gentleman, philosophical and peace-loving, who dedicated his life to helping people. It is true to say that he inspired and positively impacted the lives of everyone he met, including family, friends, colleagues and patients. Fondly known as, and referred to as, "Prof", he specialized in the preservation of life at its most vulnerable stages (pregnancy and childbirth), and devoted much of his professional life to improving the lives of the most disadvantaged. He succumbed to Prostate cancer in July 2012 and this tribute is to honor and immortalize him, and to continue his quest to preserve life. He will always be loved and very fondly remembered by his family and friends. Thank you for visiting Prof's memorial site. Please leave a tribute in his honour.

Thoughts

You were the inspiration behind what I believed to be my life’s “calling”, medicine. What I now realise, many years and diverted paths later, is that I admired (and still do) the quiet strength, kindness, sagacity and discipline of your person. I have found myself walking in your footprints, even if not in the field of medicine: Seeking to educate and to help others. You remain my inspiration, a pillar of excellence and wonder to me, and I miss you dearly. Thank you for being who you were, and I thank God that I got to have you as my Grandpa. Rest on, peacefully in the everlasting arms of our Saviour. 🙏🏾

Daddy, It's been 6 long years without you and it still feels like yesterday. The pain of separation has hardly waned but i have found succour in the warmth of the beautiful memories that streams through my thoughts; as often as I call to mind your amiable and benevolent personality. You will remain for me, a towering legacy of inspiration: admired, cherished and eternally loved. Thank you the the invaluable nuggets of life I learnt from you while we interacted on this side of time. They have been lighted sign posts, as I make progress in my own earthly sojourn. May eternity continue to smile on you as you rest in the bossom of the almighty Father. You are sorely missed.

Prof Ekwempu was a very tough teacher. I was privileged to have trained under him at Goroka. A true Professor indeed. I wish I had spent more time with him. Lord please pardon him and give him eternal rest in your house. Dr. Alex Golpak Kimbe - Papua New Guinea.
