You were the inspiration behind what I believed to be my life’s “calling”, medicine. What I now realise, many years and diverted paths later, is that I admired (and still do) the quiet strength, kindness, sagacity and discipline of your person. I have found myself walking in your footprints, even if not in the field of medicine: Seeking to educate and to help others. You remain my inspiration, a pillar of excellence and wonder to me, and I miss you dearly. Thank you for being who you were, and I thank God that I got to have you as my Grandpa.
